Isaiah 55:8-9 New Living Translation

⁸ “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
    “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
⁹ For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
    so my ways are higher than your ways
    and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. SOURCE

And there it is… There’s no doubt you (we) are important to God. Still in the intricacies of our planning, goals, and vision-casting, we can see just how limited our thoughts and ways really are.

There could be a plan to go straight and then turn left. Then God, in His powerful and all-knowing way, sees the bigger picture. He then reroutes the plan to reversing and then turning left. Cool. But does it always feel good in the moment? Absolutely not. It can actually feel really disappointing…

In context, Isaiah 55 was written to encourage a rebellious people who needed God for a “re-do” in their plans. God’s ways are naturally gracious. And I know some of you (and me) are in need of a desperate “re-do.”

Will we accept these loving words and allow the Lord to lead in our next steps? Let’s hope we do…
